20130706_191537dmo Frameworks is a frame building workshop based in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside.

dmo stands for ‘Dennis Michael Oliver’, Dennis is my Grandad (a retired fabricator and sheet metal worker from Jaguar), Michael is my Dad (a retired engineer from BMW) and I’m Olly (a Mechanical engineer).

My first frame, the Element, was aimed at mountain bikers who like a bit of everything! The frame was designed for me to compete in the Highland Trail Race, running a 1×9 chainset. The frame also accommodates anything from single speed to a fully geared triple chainset and anything in between. I run the frame fully rigid but it is suspension corrected so you can run a bouncy fork up front should you wish.

One of my mountain biking passions is just going out on epic multi-day rides – this is where I got the taste for ‘Bike Packing’. In a nutshell ‘Bike Packing’ entails strapping all of your kit onto a bike for one, two or more nights out in the wilderness!

The Element combines various grades and thicknesses of off the shelf and custom steel tubing to make a frame which is light, stiff where it needs to be and importantly compliant enough for comfortable multi-day riding.

Following on from the Bristol Bespoked bike show and the Spin London show I have been very fortunate to receive my first orders for the Element frame. I have also had quite a few enquiries about producing a 29er+ frame – this is essentially a 29er which can run semi-fat 3″ tyres. My Element 3.0 prototype is currently in production and I will be exhibiting this at the UK Handmade Bicycle Show next April – touch wood!!
